Overview

The Vice President General Manager – Foodservice is the defined leader for an assigned market and is responsible for overseeing and reaching their market’s business and sales objects. This position is regularly accessible to and in contact with executive and senior team members, Acosta’s Sales force, manufactures, distributors, and key customers in order to stay up-to-date on market and sales developments. The Vice President General Manager develops market strategies, market specific sales plans, and directs and executes a business plan that is in-line with Acosta’s organizational goals. Additionally, the VP GM leads their market team members by example and sets the tone for their market through efficient utilization of time and company resources.

Responsibilities

Develops market strategies with input from executive team members and the Director of Sales and executes a profit plan in their assigned market

Stays up-to-date with and knowledgeable of each client in their assigned market, including: people of responsibility, bid timing, bid products, competitive pricing from previous bids, new product development, regulations, and any other activity that places Acosta in the position of being the prime resource to our clients

Manages, directs and works with Strategic and Distributor Account Managers to execute assigned business plans and deliver results on high level goals and targets aligned with Acosta’s key objectives

Creates and maintains relationships with primary decision makers at tier one distributors and significant tier two distributors

Conducts regular review meetings with Sales team management to share and exchange ideas, successes, failures, and review progress towards goals

Maintains on-going communication and works closely with the Directors of Sales to develop and implement a company driven sales plan for revenue growth

Works with clients to determine achievable goals, develop a Go to Market strategy, and satisfy their needs in the marketplace

Provides sales results and updates to manufactures as requested

Leads and participates in sales presentations, negotiations, sales meetings, and trade shows with key external and internal industry stakeholders

Provides final authorization for all hiring and firing decisions

Maintains key client relationships and develops and implements strategies for expanding the Sales team’s client base

Maintains active knowledge of product offerings and seeks opportunities to place additional products

Provides final authorization for all capital expenditures in the market

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Must have a proven track record in a sales capacity with a food broker or a major national company.

Prior experience, must demonstrate sales skills along with the ability to successfully manage and direct others.

Must demonstrate skills required to build team spirit and successfully motivate all Associates.

Must be able to effectively communicate with others. Must be able to speak, hear and sit for long periods of time. Must have good vision, dexterous use of both hands and be able to operate a calculator, Proxima, overhead projector, slid projector, computer, printer, fax machine, telephone and copier.

Must be able to effectively communicate the sales philosophy and direction of the company to all Associates..

Must be willing to travel.

Must be proficient in a variety of software packages used to support the sales function.

Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, presentation, negotiation, and sales skills.

Must have the ability to analyze sales and marketing information needed to make effective sales presentations.

Must possess a solid understanding of the fundamental principals of financial management and possess the ability to effectively monitor and control expenses.

Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive a car.
