The School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at the West campus of Arizona State University invites applications for a full time, benefits eligible position in Biology at the Lecturer level to begin in August 2020. General information: The School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences, New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences (https://newcollege.asu.edu/mathematical-natural-sciences-degree-programs) at Arizona State University, is an interdisciplinary mathematical and natural sciences unit that encompasses biology, chemistry, computing, forensics, statistics, mathematics, and physics. Successful candidates will be expected to provide innovative instruction in biology and to contribute service to the university and the profession. Essential Functions of Lecturers: The individuals filling these positions will teach up to five biology lectures or labs per semester, work with colleagues within and outside the department to develop innovative curricula that enhance student access and success, and provide other departmental service as assigned. Required Qualifications: Masters degree in biology or closely related field by the time of appointment; experience teaching college level biology, or similar courses. Desired Qualifications: At least five years experience teaching at the college level, additional graduate coursework beyond the Masters degree, experience using course management software such as Canvas, experience in collaborative teaching efforts with other disciplines, and service at the departmental level. Sensitivity to and experience working with diverse student populations, and a teaching background that demonstrates an ability to develop an atmosphere that encourages student success.
