Overview:

We are seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer to join the Range Instrumentation Support (RIS) team, to support Range Safety systems on the Pacific Collector berthed in Portland, OR.

In this position, you will have the opportunity to work with a team responsible for deploying, maintaining, troubleshooting, and integrating system upgrades to support our Missile Defense Agency (MDA) customer and meet mission objectives.

Responsibilities:

What you will do.

Participate in the full Engineering Lifecycle of range instrumentation systems, including requirements gathering, generation and maintenance of requirements, design, development, test, integration, validation and verification and support.

You will primarily operate and maintain the Range Safety Systems on board a ship (i.e., the Pacific Collector) while in port and while at sea.

Participate in the full Engineering Lifecycle of communications systems, including requirements gathering, generation and maintenance of requirements, design, development, test, integration, validation and verification and support.

Assist team-members, customers, end users and partners with issue/problem resolutions, including writing of technical documentation and participation in technical meetings.

You will be part of team that is responsible for the engineering design, installation maintenance and repair of communication systems.

Gain understanding of systems by working with schematic drawings, specifications and vendor technical documentation.

You will have the opportunity to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers’ manuals, problem reports, test results, or similar documents.

Develop and update system documentation to include but not limited to standard operating procedures, user manuals, etc.

Gain understanding overall mission requirements by supporting design reviews of mission architecture with Government customers.

This position could require between 25% and 50% travel time. You will support maintenance operations in Portland, OR, and Huntsville, AL, as well as mission operations requiring you to sail on the Pacific Collector any time it leaves Portland. Mission schedules vary and could require up to four (4) deployments in a year that each last approximately five (5) weeks. Qualifications:

You would be a great fit if you have.

A BS in an Engineering or Scientific field with 5+ years’ related experience, or 11+ years of related experience without a degree

2+ years’ experience as an Information Technology technician and/or have experience with communications, telemetry, range safety or radar instrumentation systems.

A valid Security+ certification or DoD Directive 8570.01 IAT Level II certification; may consider ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.

A valid DoD Directive 8570.01 Computing Environment (CE) Certification; may consider ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.

Experience with Windows and/or Linux systems administration.

An active DoD SECRET Security Clearance or higher, which requires a US citizen; an active and current clearance is required to start the position

Have knowledge and experience with one or more of the following systems:

WV Communications Command Transmitter Systems

Acroamatic or NetAcquire Telemetry Data Processors

Antenna Control Systems and Antennas

Cisco Networking equipment

Windows and/or Linux Operating Systems

Test Equipment – Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzers, Power Meters, Signal Generators, Modulation Meters

Are competent with Microsoft Visio, Word, Excel and Project

Are self-driven and resourceful to achieve goals independently as well as work well in groups.

Have strong written, oral and listening communication skills.

Are demonstrably able to mentor teammates and support customers in presentation and/or briefing environments.

Have the flexibility to adjust to changing requirements, schedules and priorities.

Have the ability to work in a team environment, to socialize ideas, and to make recommendations and gather team consensus to move forward.

SECURITY CLEARANCE

This position requires you to have and maintain an active DOD Secret Security clearance. In order to obtain a clearance you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
