Job Title: Accounting Technician III
Location: Wake County, NC
Description of Work
This position is in the Accounts Receivable Section and is located on the Dorothea Dix Campus. It is responsible for establishing receivables, posting payments, tracking transactions processed through NCAS, and creating and maintaining reports. This position must be able to complete high volume tasks independently and within set timeframes following federal and state guidelines and statutes.
Salary Grade GN09; Recruitment Range $36,677.00 – $41,513.00
About the DHHS Office of the Controller
The Office of the Controller sets and interprets all accounting and financial reporting policies and procedures for the Department as authorized by the rules and regulations of the Office of the State Controller and state statute, and executes all accounting transactions for DHHS.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Qualified applicants must document on the application that they possess all of the following:
- Proven understanding of general accounting principles and concepts.
- Demonstrated experience with online data entry, balancing and reconciling accounting transactions/records.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven experience with office practices and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accounting office records and reports.
- Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail.
- Strong computer skills in a mainframe emulation.
- Proficient with Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Experience with accounts receivable, NCAS, or expensive experience with a similar online accounting system.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Associate’s Degree in Accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in accounting;
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of experience in accounting work;
An equivalent combination of training and experience.
